On today's date the Frederick Police Department responded to a multi-car accident near West Patrick Street and North McCain Drive
On Tuesday September 25, 2012 at approximately 0751 hours officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the intersection of North McCain Drive and West Patrick Street for the report of a personal injury accident. Upon arrival officers discovered that a total of 5 cars were involved. All 5 vehicles were in the eastbound lanes of West Patrick Street. The investigation revealed that a pickup truck was traveling westbound on West Patrick Street when it collided with a silver Honda that was turning left onto West Patrick Street from North McCain Drive. The impact from the primary collision caused the pickup to travel across the median and pass through the pedestrian fence. The pickup then collided with two vehicles which were stopped in the eastbound lanes of West Patrick Street for a red light. The silver Honda continued westbound down West Patrick Street about 150 feet where it then passed through another section of the pedestrian fence. The silver Honda collided with another vehicle that was in the eastbound lanes of West Patrick Street. A total of 3 vehicle occupants were transported to FMH with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the silver Honda was flown to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with critical injuries. The driver of the Honda is now listed in stable condition at the time of release. Accident reconstructionists were called in to assist with the investigation. At the time of the release the exact cause for the initial collision has not been determined. No names are being released at this time.
