Officers with the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of Hillcrest Elementary School at approximately 1428 hours for a report of two gunshots. After an extensive search, no evidence or suspect were located in the area.
On today's date, at approximately 1458 hours, patrol officers with the Frederick Police Department along with officers assigned to the Frederick Police Department's Directed Patrol Unit responded to the area of HIllcrest Elementary for reports of two gunshots. Frederick Policed Department Communications' Section received a call from a concerned citizen in the area who reported hearing two gunshots being fired and seeing four young males running from the area. Officers quickly arrived in the area. Hillcrest Elementary School was immediately temporarily locked down, meaning no one was permitted to either exit or enter the school.
Officers searched the area for evidence of gunshots being fired and were not successful in locating any casings or weapons. A police K-9 was also called into the area to attempt to search for any casings or weapons, and was not able to locate evidence of shots being fired. After an exhaustive search, the school was re-opened after approximately 30 minutes.
