Frederick Man Arrested for Possession of a Handgun and Crack Cocaine.
Frederick Police responded to the 300 block of North Market St. at approximately 1:40 am Monday morning for a report of a man with a handgun waving it at people and threatening them. When OFC. Keith Donovan arrived on the scene he observed the man walking north in the 300 block with the handgun in his hand. OFC. Donovan with the assistance of other officers were able to place the man, who was later identified as Tavares Bohannon Bowie, in custody and retrieve the gun from him. After arresting Bowie, OFC. Donovan also located a substantial quantity of suspected crack cocaine from him. Bowie was taken to the Frederick County Central Booking Unit where he was charges with the following crimes:
1.) Wear, carry and transport a handgun on person.
2.) Use of firearm in commission of a drug crime.
3.) Possession of Crack Cocaine.
4.) Possession of Crack Cocaine with the intent to distribute.
5.) Possession of firearm in relation to a drug trafficking crime.
6. Wear, carry and transport firearm while engaged in a drug trafficking crime.
7.) Possess and carry a firearm after being a convicted felon.
8.) Reckless Endangerment
9.) Carry a dangerous and deadly weapon with intent to injure.
10.) Obliterate/Remove the manufacturer's identification number on a firearm.
Bowie was awaiting an initial appearance before the District Court Commissioner at the time of this press release.
