On today's date, 08-01-2012, at approximately 0930 hours, OFC Brian Cosgray was operating stationary RADAR in the area of Monocacy Blvd at Waterside Drive. At this time, OFC Cosgray observed the suspect, Blake Barrett, operating a vehicle at what appeared to be a high rate of speed. Once OFC Cosgray determined Barrett was exceeding the posted speed limit based on his RADAR's display, he initiated a traffic stop on Barrett. After getting identification from Barrett, it was determined that Barrett's driver's license out of Oklahoma had been suspended. OFC Cosgray went to remove Barrett from the vehicle to place him under arrest at which time Barrett advised OFC Cosgray of the presence of a fully loaded 9mm semi-automatic handgun in the driver's door's inside pocket panel. Barrett was placed under arrest without incident and the handgun rendered safe and taken into evidence. Mr. Barrett was taken to Central Booking where he is awaiting a bond hearing at the time of this release.
