Annual Fire in Ice Event Returns to Downtown Frederick

The City of Frederick is excited to announce the return of the annual Fire in Ice event, taking place the first weekend of February. This family-friendly celebration will feature hundreds of captivating ice sculptures and winter-themed activities throughout Downtown Frederick.

Event Details:

  • Friday Kickoff: Friday, February 2, 2024, from 6:00 p.m.- 9:00 p.m. Join us for ice carving demonstrations, games, the Polar Lounge, and Pyrophoric Fire Performances
  • Main Event: Saturday, February 3, 2024, from 11:00 a.m.- 10:00 p.m. 

Shuttle Service/Garage Parking:

To enhance your experience, attendees are encouraged to utilize the FREE shuttle service running every 15 minutes on Saturday, February 3. The shuttle will run from 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Shuttle Parking Locations:
Thomas Johnson Middle School (1799 Schifferstadt Blvd)
drops off at the Polar Lounge (15 E 6th St) a wheelchair-accessible shuttle will be available on this route between the hours of 11am-2pm and from 5:30pm-7:30pm
The Frederick Fairgrounds, Parking Lot A (704 E Patrick St / corner of E Patrick & Franklin St) 
 drops off at Everedy Square (20 N East St)
NYMEO Field at Harry Grove Stadium (21 Stadium Dr) 
 drops off at the Frederick Visitor Center (151 S East St)

 Downtown garages will offer a $10 flat-rate fee on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. - 9:00 p.m. All downtown garages are available for parking.

Traffic Control Measures:

The Frederick Police Department, along with professional flaggers, will be assisting with traffic control to ensure a smooth flow throughout the weekend. Motorists are advised to plan accordingly and expect delays, particularly on Saturday.

Please note the following for Saturday, February 3, 2024-
-NO TURNS will be permitted at the Patrick & Market St or Market & Church St intersections from 11:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. 
-Carroll Creek Garage will have a modified traffic flow: Patrick St: entrance only, Carroll Creek Way: exit only, Maxwell Ave: exiting garage traffic only.
