“I am deeply disappointed to learn about the proposed transportation budget cuts from the state, jeopardizing our city's top transportation priority – the widening of and safety improvements to US 15. These cuts present a significant challenge to keeping this long-needed project moving forward and my administration remains steadfast in our commitment to this crucial project.
Earlier this year, we experienced a tragedy on this road, one that resulted in the loss of human life, and significant property damage for residents in our community. That tragedy was just one exhibition of the dire need for improvements to this crucial stretch of highway through the City and County.
The US 15 project is more than a transportation project. It’s an economic development project and, most importantly, it’s a safety project. It is critical that we keep it moving forward on the most expedited timeline possible.
These proposed cuts are a difficult blow. But between our advocacy in alignment with Frederick County, our State Delegation, and the community, I am hopeful we can get it back on track.”
