At approximately 11:55 a.m. on September 30, 2023, officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to a report of a shooting in the 400 Block of East Patrick Street.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers encountered the victim, who reported that while he was in the process of boarding up the windows to the vacant building, he heard a loud noise consistent with the sound of a gunshot and he sustained a minor injury to his hand. The victim declined EMS services.
Officers immediately secured the perimeter, and verbal commands were issued for anyone inside the vacant building to exit. When these commands were unsuccessful FPD’s Special Response Team (SRT), and Crisis Negotiation Team (CNT) were activated. Barricade resolution tactics were executed and once officers were inside the building a thorough search was conducted. No suspects were located on the premises.
At this time, the investigation into the incident is ongoing. We would like to assure the public that there is no known threat to public safety and all roads in the area are open at this time.
