The City of Frederick is delighted to announce a significant step forward in its commitment to promoting racial equity and fostering inclusivity. The City has been granted membership to the Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE), a national network dedicated to achieving racial equity and expanding opportunities for all.

GARE: Driving Racial Equity Nationwide

The Government Alliance on Race and Equity (GARE) is a transformative initiative that unites governments across the United States in a collaborative effort to dismantle structural racial inequities and create pathways for equitable outcomes. With a membership base of over 400 jurisdictions spanning the nation, GARE empowers municipalities to address disparities within their communities and implement tangible strategies that ensure fairness and justice for everyone.

A Pioneering Move by the City of Frederick

The City of Frederick's approval for GARE membership reflects its steadfast commitment to building a just and inclusive society. By joining forces with GARE, the City aims to increase its efforts to address racial disparities, foster open dialogues, and formulate policies that reflect the diverse needs of its residents. This partnership marks a significant milestone in the City's journey towards realizing its vision of a more equitable community.

Creating Equitable Opportunities for All

As a member of GARE, the City of Frederick will have access to a wealth of resources, knowledge, and expertise from other jurisdictions that are actively engaged in advancing racial equity. Collaborating within this dynamic network will allow the City to adopt best practices, gain insights, and implement evidence-based strategies that drive positive change.

Mayor Michael O’Connor’s Statement

"We are thrilled to announce the City of Frederick's membership in the Government Alliance on Race and Equity," said Mayor Michael O’Connor. "This is a pivotal moment for our city as we continue to work towards building a community that upholds the values of fairness, inclusivity, and justice. By joining forces with GARE, we are embarking on a collective journey to ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, has equal access to opportunities and a voice in shaping our future."

The City of Frederick looks forward to collaborating with GARE and its network of forward-thinking governments, as we collectively strive to create a society that champions diversity and champions the principles of racial equity.
