City of Frederick service changes announced for Labor Day

The City of Frederick has announced several service changes and closures in observation of Labor Day on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023.

City Offices Closure: All City of Frederick offices will remain closed on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, in honor of Labor Day. Regular business hours will resume on Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2023.

Trash Collection Changes: For residential areas, there will be no trash collection service on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023. Residents who usually have their household trash collected on Monday are advised to set their trash out on Monday evening for collection on Tuesday. All other trash routes will continue as scheduled. Please refrain from setting out yard waste for collection on this day.

Yard Waste Collection Alterations: Residents in Neighborhood Advisory Councils (NAC) 6&7 should note that there will be no yard waste collection on Monday, September 4, 2023. Regular yard waste collection for NAC 6&7 will resume on Monday, September 11, 2023. Yard waste should not be set out for collection on the holiday.

Commercial Downtown Business District: Businesses within the Commercial Downtown Business District can expect their trash to be collected on the normal schedule during the Labor Day holiday.

Recycling Service Adjustments: Recycling services will be affected differently for residential and commercial areas:

  • Commercial Downtown Business Recycling Service: Recycling collection will be suspended on Monday, Sept. 4, 2023, and will resume its normal schedule on Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2023.
  • Residential Recycling: Residents seeking information about the recycling holiday schedule are encouraged to refer to the Frederick County Recycling schedule available at Frederick County Recycling Schedule.

Housing and Human Services: HHS offices and The Food Bank will be closed Sept. 4, 2023. The Community Table will be open per its normal schedule. 

The City of Frederick would like to extend its warmest wishes to all residents for a safe and enjoyable Labor Day. We appreciate your cooperation in observing these service changes during the holiday.
