The Frederick Police Department has made an arrest in connection with a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred on Hillcrest Dr in Oct. 2022.
Ja'Kwon Howard has been arrested in connection to a multiple vehicle crash that resulted in the death of one pedestrian and serious injuries to two others in 2022. Howard was indicted by a Grand Jury on April 21, 2023, on two counts: Criminally Negligent Manslaughter by Vehicle and Causing Life-Threatening Injury by Vehicle.
On Oct. 6, 2022, at approximately 4:32 pm, officers from the Frederick Police Department's Patrol Division responded to the area of Hillcrest Drive and Consett Place in Frederick City for a report of a multiple vehicle crash involving two pedestrians. A 2022 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle was traveling south on Hillcrest Drive when it collided with a 2012 Ford F150. The motorcycle then went off the roadway and struck two pedestrians waiting at a bus stop nearby. One of those pedestrians, Ana Julia Escobar, age 76, of Frederick, Maryland, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Following an extensive investigation, Howard was identified as the driver of the Kawasaki motorcycle. He was arrested by FPD OFC A. Coady on May 3, 2023 and was processed at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
