Update: FPD Charges Suspect in Strong Armed Robbery

The Frederick Police Department has charged an individual in relation to a strong-armed robbery that occurred over the weekend.

On April 01, 2023, at approximately 9:43 a.m., officers responded to the 1300 Block of W. Seventh Street for a report of a strong-armed robbery. During the incident, the suspect robbed the cashier at a grocery store while saying he had a knife in his possession. As a result of the investigation, detectives were able to identify the suspect as, Richard Allen Johnson Jr. (DOB 07-14-1962), from Walkersville, Maryland. Investigators were able to determine Johnson did not have a knife on his person during the incident.

Johnson has been transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center and is currently being charged with the following:

(Theft: $100 to Under $1,500  CR 7 104)
