Over the past several weeks, the Frederick Police Department has been contacted with thirty-one theft from motor vehicle cases. A common theme in these crimes is that a valuable item is in plain view. Reports indicate suspects are entering vehicles through unlocked doors or by breaking car windows.
Residents are encouraged to double check that their car doors are locked and to remove valuable items such as purses, wallets and electronics from cars. If it’s not possible to remove items from a vehicle, please leave valuables out of sight.
Patrol officers are continuously patrolling through residential areas and parking lots to help keep Frederick safe, but we could use help from the community. Please be sure to report suspicious activity or persons as soon as possible by calling FPD’s non-emergency line at 301-600-2012, or by calling 911 if you observe a crime in progress. Always remember, if you see something, say something!
