Mayor O'Connor issues statement on early morning officer-involved shooting

Mayor Michael O'Connor issued the following statement regarding the Frederick Police Department's officer-involved shooting that occurred early Monday morning:

"Police officers have extremely difficult jobs, and sometimes find themselves in untenable situations. One of those situations occurred this morning when one of our officers shot a suspect responding to call for service. Thankfully, neither the other resident(s) nor any of our officers were seriously injured. It also appears the suspect’s prognosis is optimistic. While we do not know all the circumstances that led to this incident, I am certain that with our police department’s pledge to transparency, accountability, and the effectiveness of body worn cameras, the answers will come. For now, I ask for well-wishes to all of those involved in this incident and patience in allowing the investigation to be completed."
