The Frederick Police Department has arrested one individual in relation to a firearm discharge that occurred in October.
On Oct. 15th, 2022 at approximately 1:30 AM, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the 100 Block of Pennsylvania Ave. for a reported firearm discharge. Upon arrival, officers located numerous fired bullet casings and discovered a building and vehicle had been struck by gunfire.
Through evidence obtained, officers identified Kyeron Zaimere Cottingham as the suspect. On Dec. 9, 2022, Cottingham was located and apprehended with the assistance of the United States Marshals Service in Wilmington, DE. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit extradited Cottingham back to Frederick and an arrest warrant was issued.
Cottingham was charged with the following crimes:
- Illegal Possession of ammunition
- Possession of a firearm with felony convictions
- Illegal possession of a regulated firearm
- Discharging a firearm within the city
