Mayor Michael O’Connor is pleased to announce the establishment of the 11-member committee to review and suggest changes to the City’s charter.
“This committee has extremely important work that lies ahead over the next six months in reviewing the City’s governing document,” said Mayor O’Connor. “I am pleased by the interest we received from the public and believe we have selected a group of people with wide breadth and depth of knowledge, fully capable of completing the task. I look forward to seeing the committee’s recommendations that will ultimately come before the Board of Aldermen.”
The 11 committee members are:
- Marvin Ausherman
- John Funderburk
- Stuart Harvey
- Megan Kirk
- Tom Lynch
- Andrea Mayer
- Melissa Muntz
- Ron Peppe
- Jim Racheff
- Robert Van Rens
- Ashley Waters
The Charter Review Committee will host its first meeting on Jan. 5 at 1 p.m. in the City Hall Board Room.
The Committee will be charged with examining the charter from these specific perspectives:
- Elected official structure, composition, and membership
- Organizational structure
- Rules and procedures
- Compensation
- Frequency of review
Committee meetings will be open to the public and recorded and will be able to be found on the City’s website at frederickmd.gov/charterreview.
