On Thursday, Oct. 6, 2022, at approximately 4:32 p.m., the Frederick Police Department responded to the area of Hillcrest Drive and Consett Place for a report of a vehicle crash.
Upon arrival, officers located two pedestrians that had been struck by a motorcycle. Emergency Medical Services responders quickly arrived on scene and began life-saving efforts, but one of the pedestrians, who is not being identified at this time was pronounced dead at the scene. The other pedestrian and the motorcycle driver, who are also not currently being identified were transported to an area trauma center.
The FPD Crash Reconstruction Team responded to the scene. Through the investigation, officers determined the motorcycle attempted to pass one vehicle and a truck that was in the process of parallel parking on Hillcrest Drive when it hit the truck and lost control and went up over a curb striking the two pedestrians, who were waiting at a nearby bus stop, not in the street.
This remains an active and ongoing investigation. We will provide more information as it becomes available.
