This investigation was a coordinated effort between the Frederick Police Department, the Frederick County States Attorney’s Office, the Frederick County Sherriff’s Office, Leesburg Police Department and Homeland Security Investigations under the Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN). The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services (GOCPYVS) provides grant funding and strategic support to MCIN member sites to identify, disrupt, and dismantle criminal organizations through inter-agency collaboration and data sharing to make Maryland safer. In 2021, FPD’s work with MCIN has resulted in more than a dozen arrests of violent criminals and individuals heavily involved in drug networks. This integral partnership and associated funding has been invaluable to the Frederick Police Department’s ability to arrest some of the most dangerous bad actors in Frederick, many of whom are repeat offenders. This initiative and the associated arrests are directly responsible in making Frederick a safer city for its residents.

The Maryland Criminal Information Network (MCIN) provides funding to the Frederick Police Department for personnel such as a Crime Analyst and a Heroin Coordinator, who tracks and assists overdose victims in connecting to various resources. Additionally the MCIN grant provides overtime funding for larger investigations that involve regional Law Enforcement Partners such as the Frederick County Sheriffs Office, Thurmont Police Department and Brunswick Police Department.

The Governor’s Office of Crime Prevention, Youth, and Victim Services (GOCPYVS) funded this project under sub award number MCIN-2022-0014. All points of view in this document are those of the author and do not necessarily represent the official position of any Maryland State office or agency.
