The Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division has arrested a woman who assaulted a person with a knife.
On Sept. 12, 2021, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the 100 block of S Market Street for a report of a person being stabbed.
During the investigation, FPD learned the victim and suspect were known to each other and were arguing before the incident occurred. The altercation then turned physical and the suspect stabbed the victim with a knife in the area of his abdomen.
The suspect, identified as April Denise Cooper, was located within the vicinity of where the assault occurred and taken into custody. Cooper was later transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center (FCADC) where she was held without bond.
The victim was transported to an area trauma center where he is in critical condition, but stable. Based on the information and evidence gathered through this investigation, it is being handled as an isolated incident between known associates.
