On Wednesday, August 18, 2021, at approximately 1:45 a.m., officers of the Frederick Police Department’s Patrol Division responded to the 100 Block of South Jefferson Street, in Frederick City, for an accident with injuries.
Through the initial investigation, it was determined a blue Dodge minivan left the roadway and struck a house in the area of S Jefferson Street and W South Street. After the van struck the house, the house caught fire, and the occupant of the vehicle became entrapped. The fire was extinguished and the driver of the minivan was extricated and transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced dead.
The driver has been identified as 38-year-old Kimberly Dawn Murphy.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
