The Frederick Police Department is hosting National Night Out, a community-building event with the police and local neighborhoods. National Night Out 2021 is on Aug. 3, 2021, from 6-9 p.m. at Carrollton Park, Hill Street Park, Mullinix Park and Lucas Village.
National Night Out is an opportunity for the public and law enforcement to build relationships and promote public safety. Started in 1984, the event has grown from 2.5 million participants spanning 23 states to 38 million neighbors participating from all 50 states.
Police Chief Jason Lando explained the importance of this national event: "Our team at FPD works hard every day to ensure Frederick remains a safe city for all who live and play here. On most days, we are busy going from call to call without much of a break. National Night Out is an opportunity for our officers to spend some quality time with our residents, to enjoy a fun evening together and to get to know each other better."
Getting to know your neighbors and surroundings is the best way to promote a safe environment. There will be police demonstrations, games, displays and more. Food and drink will be provided.
