At the October 1, 2020 Mayor and Board of Aldermen Public Meeting, the Board approved the following items:
- An ordinance to rezone a 12.74 portion of 515 South Market Street (Mt. Olivet Cemetery) to apply the Institutional (IST) floating zone, replacing the Medium Density Residential (R8) zone. This portion of the property, located behind 356-394 Prospect Boulevard and north of I-70, was purchased by the applicant with the original intention to construct townhomes and a senior living facility. To that end, the applicant requested and the Board approved removal of the IST floating zone from the property in September of 2017, reverting to the base zone of R8, or medium density residential. The applicant has since revised their plans and no longer plans to construct the townhomes but will move forward with senior living facility. This decision to reapply the IST floating zone will facilitate that project.
- An ordinance to apply a Historic Preservation Overlay (HPO) to 636 Solarex Court as requested by the Historic Preservation Commission. The property, historically known as Linden Grove, consists of 2.47 acres and containing three buildings and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The request comes in response to a Request for Demolition Review submitted by the property owner. The Planning Commission recommended application of the HPO at their July 13, 2020 meeting. A proposed site plan for the property proposes demolition of the existing structures and construction of a free-standing restroom facility.
