Members Needed for New Climate Emergency Mobilization Work Group

In April, The City of Frederick adopted a resolution on the climate emergency that is impacting our community - locally and globally. It called for many actions and steps, including the formation of a Climate Emergency Mobilization Work Group in partnership with Frederick County, MD. The County recently passed a similar resolution.

The City is looking for community members who would like to serve on the Climate Work Group. The City aims to bring together individuals who represent Frederick and the many industries and specialties critical to this work, including but not limited to energy, transportation, agriculture, planning, and public health.

"Our community is filled with many committed advocates and experts when it comes to addressing Climate Change as a community, and I look forward to that enthusiasm assisting the City of Frederick in expanding our climate stewardship," shared Mayor O’Connor.

Alderman Ben MacShane brought the resolution forward and is collaborating with Frederick County Councilmember Jessica Fitzwater and Kai Hagan to move this work group forward. "Our children deserve a safe, healthy, beautiful world, and sadly that future is not guaranteed. I’m grateful that Frederick is committed to doing its part to create that future. This work group is one part of that effort, and we need residents to bring their expertise and passion to the huge task of protecting our climate."

Those interested should apply at by August 3.
