Officers Make Drug Arrest After Traffic Stop
FREDERICK, MD – On April 4, 2019, at approximately 6:33 pm, while on routine patrol, Officer Jeremy Johnston observed a vehicle leave a private driveway without coming to a stop before entering onto W. South Street. Officer Johnston initiated a traffic stop and as he approached the vehicle, he detected the strong smell of unburned marijuana coming from inside the vehicle. Upon placing Mr. Troyvonte Burns under arrest and conducting a search incident to arrest, Mr. Burns began to resist arrest. As additional officers arrived on the scene to assist Officer Johnston with the arrest, Mr. Burns continued to actively resist and was OC sprayed as a result.
Recovered from Mr. Burns person were eight (8) clear bags of suspected cocaine, one (1) clear bag of suspected heroin, and one (1) gelcap containing suspected heroin. Mr. Burns was transported to a local hospital for medical clearance prior to being taken to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for processing. He is being charged with CDS Possession with Intent to Distribute: Cocaine/Opium, CDS Possession not Marijuana, and Resist/Interfere with Arrest.
