Frederick Police Arrest Wanted Person
FREDERICK, MD – At 0229 hours on March 20, 2019, OFC Patrick Wharton was on patrol in the 400 block of North Market Street. While conducting a check of a laundromat, he observed a male, later identified as Elijah Sadik Parker, 35, of Frederick, trespassing inside. OFC Wharton attempted to place Parker under arrest, but he resisted and attempted to flee. Several officers arrived to assist, and they took Parker into custody.
A search of Parker incident to arrest revealed that he had a loaded handgun concealed on his person. The firearm was determined to have been stolen, and the serial number showed signs of an attempt to alter it. OFC Wharton determined that Parker was prohibited from possessing firearms or ammunition due to previous criminal convictions.
OFC Wharton charged Parker with the following offenses:
- Trespass – Posted Property
- Resist/Interfere with Arrest
- Handgun on Person
- Loaded Handgun on Person
- Possession of a Stolen Regulated Firearm
- Knowingly Alter Firearm ID Number
- Firearm Possession with a Felony Conviction
- Regulated Firearm: Illegal Possession
- Illegal Possession of Ammunition
In addition to the criminal offenses OFC Wharton charged Parker with for this incident, OFC Wharton served several open arrest warrants.
One arrest warrant stemmed from a February 15, 2019 robbery and assault with a firearm in the 600 block of West Patrick Street. At 0552 hours on February 15, several citizens reported hearing gunshots in that area. Officers arrived, contacted several callers and checked the area, but did not locate a crime scene or anyone with detailed information. Officers documented the call as an unconfirmed firearm discharge.
Later, on the afternoon of February 15, 2019, a man called the Frederick Police Department and reported that he had been robbed and shot at in the 600 block of West Patrick Street.
Detective Steve Radtke investigated the incident, identified Parker as the suspect, and applied for the following charges:
- Armed Robbery
- Assault – First Degree
- Assault – Second Degree
- Reckless Endangerment
- Theft Less Than $100
Parker is currently being held without bond at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center.
