Frederick Police Launch Three Year Strategic Plan

FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick Police Department has launched its 2019 – 2021 Strategic Plan.   This plan will serve as a road map to guide the department in the delivery of police services to the City of Frederick.  The Strategic Plan is viewable at www.cityoffrederick.com/police.

“Our 2019-2021 Strategic Plan will serve as the blueprint for the department to fulfill our mission and guide us as we face the many challenges associated with keeping our city safe”, Chief Ed Hargis said. “Our Strategic Directions represent the key components of where we will focus our energy as we aim for continuous improvement in the operations and administration of the department. I am grateful for the time and effort that our Strategic Planning Committee devoted into the development of this comprehensive plan and want to thank our employees and the Frederick residents and business owners for providing their feedback to our surveys”.

In addition to a review of the last strategic plan and internal communications with departmental members, we undertook a comprehensive community consultation process with those who live, work, and play in the City of Frederick to determine their policing priorities.  Including all community stakeholder groups was critical to the creation of this plan.

The Plan outlines four (4) strategic directions that will guide the department as it works to bring innovative solutions to complex policing challenges.  Within each of these four strategic directions are quantifiable and measurable objectives and action items which outline how the Department will work to attain these goals.  The 2019-2021 Strategic Plan updates will be provided on a quarterly basis and provided to the public.

  • STRATEGIC DIRECTION 1:  Crime Fighting, Public Safety, and Operations
  • STRATEGIC DIRECTION 2:  Community Partnerships and Engagement
  • STRATEGIC DIRECTION 3:  Personnel Development
  • STRATEGIC DIRECTION 4:  Facilities, Resources, and Technology

Along with the strategic plan, the department has also created a new mission statement.

MISSION STATEMENT

It is the mission of the Frederick Police Department to safeguard lives and property and

enhance public safety in partnership with our community.

The men and women of the Frederick Police Department would like to thank everyone who participated in this process and we are proud to serve the City of Frederick.
