On December 19^th 2018, at approximately 1543 hours, members of the Directed Patrol Team conducted an operation in the Carroll Creek Linear Park in the area of the library, targeting drug and alcohol violations to combat ongoing complaints from citizens in the area.

Officer Bentley was in observation when he observed Tyler Greever conduct a drug transaction with two males.  Officer Bentley advised the other members, the arrest team, who were in the area of his observations.  The arrest team placed the three subjects under arrest.  Greever was placed under arrest and he was found to be in possession synthetic cannabinoid, a scale, and packaging material.  The other two males, identified as Jonathan Daniel Roberts and Paul Craig Scott were placed under arrest after they were found to be in possession of the spice they purchased from Greever. 

All parties were issued criminal citations for being in possession of synthetic cannabinoid, a Frederick City Code violation carrying a penalty of imprisonment of 90 days or $1,000.00 fine, or both. 

The recovered spice, CDS, will be sent to the Maryland State Police lab to be analyzed to determine if the substance contains a schedule I substance.  If the seized CDS does contain a schedule I substance, Greever, Roberts, and Scott could face additional criminal charges to include possession of CDS, Schedule I, which carries a penalty of imprisonment not exceeding four years or a fine not exceeding $25,000.00, or both.  Greever would be subjected to a CDS possession with the intent to distribute (a felony) charge which carries a penalty of 20 year imprisonment and a $25,000.00 fine.
