Frederick Police Partner with Community Crime Map
FREDERICK, MD - The Frederick Police Department has partnered with LexisNexis, Community Crime Map to provide the public with information on criminal activity in their area. Though Community Crime Map has been functional for some time, as of June 28th it will be the sole provider of verified information and Crimereports.com will no longer be utilized by the department. Community Crime Map allows the user to add date ranges, chose specific event types, and select individual neighborhoods or sort by Neighborhood Advisory Council (NAC).
How does it work?
Law enforcement agencies keep detailed records about each incident that occurs in their jurisdiction. When an incident happens, the officer that responded to the incident writes a detailed report with information about the event including the location, people involved, related vehicles and other useful information. This information is stored in large, secure databases within each law enforcement agency. Community Crime Map takes this data, cleans it to protect victim privacy, by listing addresses as hundreds block and not an exact address.
To access Community Crime Map please visit www.communitycrimemap.com. Community Crime Map can also be accessed through the Frederick Police Department Mobile App.
