Frederick Running Festival, Half Marathon – Roads Impacted


FREDERICK, MD – The Frederick Running Festival, Half Marathon will be on Sunday, May 6th beginning at 7 am and concluding at approximately 10:30 am.   Road closures will begin at 6:15 am at various locations throughout the route and will re-open as soon as it is safe to do so.  An estimated timeline is below of roads that will be closed.

East Patrick Street (between Franklin & East Streets)

6:15 – 7:15 am

East Street (southbound lanes between Patrick St. & Monocacy Blvd)

6:30 – 7:30 am

Monocacy Blvd (westbound lanes between East and Market Streets)

6:45 – 7:45 am

Market Street (between Monocacy and 6th Streets)

6:45 – 8:00 am

6th Street (between Market and Bentz Streets)

6:45 – 8:00 am

Bentz Street (between 6th St. and Carroll Pkwy)

7:00 – 8:05 am

Carroll Parkway (between Bentz St and Fairview Ave)

7:00 – 8:30 am

Kline Blvd (between Carroll Pkwy and Fairview Ave)

7:15 – 8:30 am

Fairview Ave (between Kline Blvd and 2nd Street)

7:15 – 8:30 am

W. Church Street (between Schifferstadt and Holden Rd)

8:00 – 10:15 am

A map with the race route is attached to this release.  Officers will be at intersections to assist in directing traffic and pedestrians.  Motorists should expect delays and plan additional travel time during the Half Marathon event.  If you are participating in the Half Marathon, please plan on arriving early as traffic does get congested in and around the fairgrounds. 

Please be aware that this event will bring not only additional vehicular traffic but also additional pedestrian and bicycle traffic with the runners, their supporters and first responders.

The public will see a significant police presence all along the route, with additional traffic control devices such as cones, barricades, traffic signs and variable message boards to help keep participants safe.

The Frederick Police Department is also encouraging everyone to be vigilant and report suspicious activity. Suspicious activity should be reported immediately to the Frederick Police Department at 301-600-2101 or by calling 9-1-1.
