Take the “My Water Pledge” – Learn, Conserve, and Win Prizes
Frederick, MD – Mayor Randy McClement is joining mayors across the country in asking residents to make a commitment to conserve water and cut pollution by taking part in a national contest aimed at drastically slashing water and energy use across the nation – and in return, residents can win a new Toyota Prius Hybrid, water fixtures, and hundreds of other prizes! Taking the pledge is easy!
The Wyland Mayor’s Challenge for Water Conversation, runs until April 30th and is a non-profit national community service competition developed by the Wyland Foundation to see which leaders can best inspire their residents to make series of informative through easy –to-use online pledges to reduce water and energy usage.
Mayor McClement said, “I encourage residents to the pledge at mywaterpledge.com to help conserve and learn new ideas and approaches to conserving water and cutting pollution – and maybe win a prize in return! It is a win-win situation for all.”
“To encourage our residents and to add to the fun, The City of Frederick has accepted a challenge from the city of Charlottesville, VA. We are competing against Charlottesville to show that residents in The City of Frederick conserve more water and fight pollution – we are in it to win it!” Mayor McClement is confident that The City of Frederick can win the challenge! The Mayor of the winning city will receive a gift basket of local products from the other.
With support from the Wyland Foundation, Toyota, Water Pik, Rainbird, Sterling plumbing, US EPA, US Forest Service, NOAA, and eco-conscious companies, Mayor McClement is encouraging the residents of The City of Frederick to conserve water, save energy, and reduce pollution on behalf of The City of Frederick at www.mywaterpledge.com/national throughout the month of April. Cities with the highest percentage of residents who take the pledge win. Participants in the winning C cities will be eligible to win prizes. Residents will also discover resources in our local area to take their commitment of conservation even further from regional and energy saving resources to cost-savings tips at home.
