The City of Frederick along with the Frederick Police Department and other agencies in the Frederick area will be participating in National Collegiate Drug and Alcohol Awareness Week in partnership with Frederick Community College from October 16th – 20th.
One special event will occur on Tuesday, October 17th at 6 pm, titled “Alyssa’s Story”. Shannon Stanley will be speaking about the loss of her daughter Alyssa, a Frederick County high school student, who passed away on June 4, 2016, of a heroin overdose. Shannon Stanley will share her compelling story of love, courage, and survival after the loss of her daughter. During this event, Emmy ® Award-winning producer Conrad Weaver will be showing a trailer of his upcoming documentary film – Heroin’s Grip. The film, tells the story of the heroin epidemic in Frederick County, Maryland.
The event will take place at Frederick Community College in the JBK Theatre and is FREE and open to the public. Afterwards, please join Shannon and Conrad for light refreshments and conversation.
