On 08/08/2017,
at approximately 7:44 PM, The Frederick Police Department’s Street Crimes Unit contacted
2 suspicious males in the 1200 block of W Patrick St. While speaking to the
males one of them provided a fake name to conceal his identity. When officers
questioned the male about providing the false name he fled on foot.
Two officers
pursued the male and were able to catch up to him after a short distance, but
as they reached him the male kicked one of the officers in the chest. At that time,
they attempted to place the suspect under arrest however, the suspect continued
to fight with the officers. During the fight the suspect punched both officers
in their heads and also bit one of the officer’s left forearm. Also during the struggle,
the suspect took a hold of one of the officer’s holstered weapon and attempted
to unholster and gain control of the firearm. The officer was able to prevent
the suspect from disarming him and after several more minutes of struggling
with the suspect, they were finally able to handcuff him. Even after being
handcuffed the suspect continued to resist and attempted to kick officers.
Both officers
and the suspect were treated for minor injuries. The suspect was then taken to
