INCIDENT/ INFORMATION:
On 10/27/11 at about 1:36 AM, FPD officers were dispatched to a report of a suspicious person in the area of Pendleton Court. The suspect, later identified as Darryl Anthony Clear, was alleged by witnesses to have been checking door handles of parked vehicles there.
Knowing Clear had been arrested for thefts from motor vehicles approximately two weeks earlier, officers detained Clear for questioning in order to determine the extent of his involvement, if any, with other recent thefts from motor vehicles occurring throughout Frederick. Based on this interview, officers developed the belief that Clear was attempting to gain entry into unsecured vehicles for the purpose of committing theft.
Although an on-scene arrest could not be made, officers applied for and were granted an arrest warrant for Clear charging him with several counts of Rogue and Vagabond. As of this writing, the warrant remains unserved and efforts to locate Clear are underway.
Citizens are reminded of the importance of removing valuables from their vehicles and locking their doors.
