MEDIA RELEASE
Mayor McClement Will Evaluate Status of Snow Removal Progress in City

Frederick, MD – January 24, 2016: The City of Frederick continues to recover from the recent historic snow event. A massive amount of snow has fallen and it will take time to complete recovery from the event. The City of Frederick Snow Removal Team has been working all night to clear City streets, and City employees continue to keep communications open between the City and residents.

Mayor Randy McClement and staff will meet to review the progress of snow removal operations throughout the City around 3:00 PM today, Sunday, January 24. Following this meeting the Mayor will make a determination on the timeframe for the Snow Emergency Plan and free parking in City garages to remain in effect.

In a team effort to expedite the snow clearing process, Mayor McClement asks residents to please clear snow from around fire hydrants, street corners that are handicap accessible and storm drains to prevent flooding and ice formation on City streets.

In addition, as a goodwill gesture and to show the Snow Removal Team how much their efforts are appreciated, if you know you live next to an employee of the City that is part of the Snow Removal Team, any assistance you can provide these staff members in clearing their driveways and sidewalks, would be greatly appreciated.
