City Sustainability Manager Plans Tree Identification Training Program for Citizens
Five Trees for Me

Frederick, MD – September 11, 2015: Jenny Willoughby, Sustainability Manager for The City of Frederick, invites Frederick City residents to participate in “Five Trees for Me”, a tree identification and inventory training session, part of a larger urban tree canopy inventory for The City of Frederick.

This fall’s training will focus on Neighborhood Advisory Councils 1, 5, and 8 but residents in any part of the City are welcomed to attend the training to learn tree identification. No experience is necessary to be part of the project and it is free to all City residents.

The identification course will be held on Mondays and Thursdays, September 14th through October 8th from 5:30 – 7:00 PM. The first two sessions will be held at Waterford Park off of Baughman’s Lane with the meeting locations moving to other areas within NACs 1, 5, and 8.
“Ultimately, homeowners will have the opportunity to learn about the trees growing in their own yards and the value of those trees for air quality, water quality, and energy savings,” said Jenny Willoughby, the City’s Sustainability Manager.
