The Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspect who attempted to rob Charlie’s Carryout, located at 703 Motter Ave., around midnight on Saturday, 2/25/12.
When officers arrived on scene, they obtained information that a white male, wearing a blue/purple jacket with a gray hooded sweatshirt underneath, and dark colored pants, attempted to rob the restaurant. Photographs obtained from the robbery also show the suspect with what appears to be a light colored shirt or mask over his face, and the suspect appears to be wearing a Croc-style shoe. The suspect was also wearing what appears to be a chain attached from his belt to his wallet on his left side.
During the robbery attempt, the suspect approached the clerk at the register and produced a note demanding money. The suspect then displayed a handgun, and at that point, the clerk retreated to the rear of the restaurant. The suspect then circled the counter and tried to open the register. He failed and fled from the restaurant. The follow up investigation is being conducted by the Criminal Investigation Division. Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call Det. Michael Morgan at 301-600-1259 or report tips anonymously at 301-600-TIPS (8477).
