On 05/31/2015 at approximately 2:27 AM a Frederick Police Officer was on foot patrol in the 300 Block of N Market Street when gunshots were heard in the area of W 4th Street and Klinehearts Alley.
Additional police officers in the area responded to assist in the investigation. Officers located an adult male victim in the 400 block of N Market Street suffering from gunshot wounds. This victim was transported by helicopter to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore for treatment of his injuries. The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life threatening at this time. Police located several persons involved in the incident, including the suspect, nearby.
Detectives responded to investigate the shooting and Det. Petruzzello was assigned as the lead investigator. As a result of this investigation Det. Petruzzello identified the suspect to be Isaiah Elvin Brigman of Adamstown, MD.
The investigation revealed that Brigman and the victim were known to one another prior to the shooting. Brigman and the victim encountered each other on the street and began to fight. During the fight Brigman had a gun and shot the suspect twice. Initial responding officers had located Brigman near the scene of the shooting.
Detectives worked with the crime scene unit to collect evidence from the scene of the shooting. A handgun was located by police in the area.
Brigman was arrested and transported to the Frederick County Adult Detention Center for an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner. Brigman is currently being held at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center on a $150,000.00 bond.
