Community Meeting Scheduled to Discuss Vacant Carmack Jays Property
Scheduled for Tonight

Frederick, MD – May 13, 2015: The City of Frederick will host a community meeting to discuss development options for 331 North Market Street, formerly Carmack Jays and Tesoro’s Food Mart. The meeting will be held on Wednesday evening, May 13th from 7:00 – 8:30 PM in Conference Room C of the Municipal Annex Building located at 140 West Patrick Street.

The current owner of the property is Douglas Development Corporation. Mackintosh, Inc. Realtors, the commercial broker now representing the property, will be present and participating in the May 13th community meeting.

This meeting will provide information about the history of the property, the challenges, and options for future use of the property. Community members will have an opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback on possible uses to make it a desirable, safe and aesthetically pleasing addition to the neighborhood.

“I highly encourage residents to attend this meeting so your thoughts and ideas can be heard by the Douglas Development Corporation. The City would like to see this building move forward to a productive use and be a viable asset to the area,” said Mayor Randy McClement.

The property was originally occupied by Carmack Jays from 1959 – 1995 and more recently by Tesoro Food Mart from 1996-1998. Tesoro Food Mart closed in 1998 following financial difficulties and in lieu of a foreclosure, The City of Frederick took possession of the property in
2000. In 2002, Douglas Development Corporation purchased the property while the City
retained the parking lot.
