City to Lift Snow Emergency Plan at 6:30 AM
Frederick, MD – March 6, 2015 The Snow Emergency Plan for The City of Frederick is lifted as of 6:30 AM today, Friday, March 6th .
There will be some limited snow hauling from certain snow emergency routes overnight for the next few days. These areas will be posted by the City in advance of these operations.
It is the responsibility of residents to clear sidewalks from snow and ice according to Section 22-16 of the City Code which states within 12 (twelve) hours after snow stops falling, a person owning or occupying a lot or part of a lot abutting a City sidewalk shall remove the snow and ice and clear a path four (4) feet wide or the entire width of the sidewalk, whichever is less. In addition, when clearing sidewalks and driveways, City Code also states that snow or ice may not be deposited onto a public street.
If a property owner fails to comply with the provisions of Section 22-16 of the City Code, a fine of up to $100.00 may be issued and the snow removed by the City with the resultant costs assessed to the property owner.
