The Frederick Police Department is seeking assistance from the community in solving a homicide investigation from 1996.
In October of 1996 the Frederick Police Department took a report of a missing 15 year old female, Stacy Lynn Hoffmaster. On December 23,1996, Stacy’s body was discovered in a wooded area off of E. South Street and the missing person investigation turned to finding Stacy’s killer.
Since 1996 the Hoffmaster murder has remained an active investigation. With the retirement of the cases primary investigator, Detective Mike Morgan, the Criminal Investigations Division has reassigned the case to another senior detective to continue the investigative efforts, and provide a different perspective and view of the evidence collected. This investigation is now assigned to Detective Kevin Forrest. Detective Forrest is a 12 year veteran of the Frederick Police Department with the last 5 years serving in the Criminal Investigations Division assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit.
