[ARCHIVED] Recycling Collection Postponed

The Department of Solid Waste Management is announcing the postponement of curbside recycling service for Tuesday, February 17, in response to the winter storm affecting our region.

MEDIA ADVISORY

Frederick County, Md. – The Department of Solid Waste Management is announcing the postponement of curbside recycling service for Tuesday, February 17, in response to the winter storm affecting our region. There will be no recycling collection on Tuesday; if recycling carts are already curbside, residents are asked to remove them. To assist the county’s Highway Operations Department with road clearing efforts, no carts should be placed curbside until the storm has passed and roads have been cleared.

Recycling service normally scheduled for Tuesday will take place on Wednesday, February 18 instead. As a result, Wednesday’s normal recycling service will shift to Thursday, February 19. Affected regions include the City of Frederick, Ijamsville, New Market, Monrovia, Mt. Airy, Mt. Pleasant, Urbana and surrounding areas.

Regular Pick-up Day >>>> Adjusted Pick-up Day
Tuesday, February 17 >>>> Wednesday, February 18
Wednesday, February 18 >>>> Thursday, February 19
Thursday, February 19 >>>>> Friday, February 20
Friday, February 20 >>>> Saturday, February 21

Please be aware that road conditions may cause some areas to still be inaccessible for recycling collection trucks on Wednesday; drivers will attempt to collect wherever possible. If recyclable materials cannot be picked up from a particular street on its shifted collection day, residents are asked to leave their carts out an additional day, as drivers will attempt to collect again.
For specific information on the status of your street’s curbside collection, please call Allied Waste Services at 301-694-6498. General information and updates on the status of the curbside recycling collection can also be obtained by visiting the Office of Recycling website at: www.FrederickCountyMD.gov/recycle or by calling 301-600-2960 to hear updated voice recordings. Additionally, a free mobile app is available to quickly alert residents to changes in their recycling schedule; it is available at www.my-waste.mobi/FrederickMD.
