Officers with the Frederick Police Department conducted DUI saturation patrols during the week of Thanksgiving. Officers conducted 71 traffic stops for various motor vehicle violations and issued 34 citations. Officers arrested 4 drivers for driving under the influence of alcohol and 1 driver for driving without a license. These saturation patrols were conducted to promote awareness and reduce the number of alcohol-impaired drivers on the roads.
Frederick Police will be out in force during the holiday season working to keep the roads safe from drunk and drugged drivers. The department conducts several saturation patrols and checkpoints throughout the year specifically targeting drunk and drugged drivers.
Traffic crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for Maryland residents. The Frederick Police Department urges drivers to always drive sober, obey the speed limit, wear a seat belt and eliminate distractions. If you see an impaired driver on the road, please call 911.
This enforcement was conducted in partnership with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration's Highway Safety Office as part of a year-long campaign to keep Frederick area roads safe for residents and travelers.
