City Conducting Community Needs Survey for Annual CDBG Funds
Frederick, MD – The City of Frederick receives an annual allocation of approximately $350,000 from the Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). To receive funding from HUD, the City must develop an annual Consolidated Plan that identifies priorities and objectives for addressing the community needs over the next five years (2015-2019). As a part of this process, the City is conducting a survey to identify citizen needs in the community and fair housing concerns in order to address housing needs of its citizens.
The City requests your assistance by completing the following survey on how to best use those funds. The survey can be found on the City website at Community Needs Survey (see attached) or printed copies are available at City Hall, 101 North Court Street or at the Municipal Annex Building at 140 West Patrick Street. Completed surveys can be submitted online, in person, or via email to ebarnhard@cityoffrederick.com or faxed to 301-600-1837.
CDBG funds are intended to create viable communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanded opportunities for low and moderate-income residents. Fair Housing concerns include any act of discrimination or barrier that might limit the housing choices of families and individuals. In previous years, the City has granted CDBG funds for single family rehabilitation loan programs, direct homeownership assistance, public facilities, transitional shelter, group home rehabilitation and to agencies providing public service to residents of The City of Frederick.
