Davis, Vaughn Demetrius.jpg

The Frederick Police Department would like to express our appreciation to the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office for their efforts and hard work in securing a plea agreement on Vaughn Davis who committed 3 armed robberies in the city of Frederick. Mr. Davis recently plead to and was convicted of committing the armed robberies of 7-11 (1042 W Patrick St) on 08-08-11, the Sunoco Gas Station (1200 W Patrick St) on 08-13-11, and the Rite Aid Pharmacy (1000 Key Parkway) on 08-20-11.

Mr. Davis was sentenced to 60 years in a state correctional facility with all but 36 years suspended. This conviction was the direct result of efforts by Detective Gene Alston, Detective Michael Morgan, and Officer Andrew Alcorn. The investigative efforts and attention to detail in the investigative process made an extremely strong case for presentation and ultimately resulted in a plea agreement prior to trial.

Chief Dine would like to commend these officers and Kirsten Brown of the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office on a collaborative effort that resulted in sentencing a serial robber to a meaningful prison sentence.

The Frederick Police Department is very proud of the hard work and dedication of the officers and detectives who were instrumental in the arrest and closure of recent robbery in the City of Frederick. This most recent case marks the 6th closure by arrest for robbery cases in the city of Frederick, with a total of 12 subjects being charged with felony crimes, during the month of August.

Date of Offense Case Description Number Charged Case Status
8-08-11 W Patrick St 7-11 Armed Robbery 1 CLOSED
8-13-11 Sunoco Armed Robbery 1 CLOSED
8-20-11 Rite Aid Armed Robbery 1 CLOSED

This latest closure is related to the armed robbery of the 7-11 Convenience store at 1042 W. Patrick St on August 8, 2011 at 1am. On that date officers responded to the store after the clerk informed dispatch that he had been robbed by a black male carrying a handgun. An initial search of the area was negative for suspects and Detective Gene Alston was assigned the case.

During the course of the investigation Detective Alston developed information that Vaughn Demetrius Davis (B/M, 12-10-68) was the possible suspect. After developing additional information and evidence of Mr. Davis’ involvement, a warrant was issued for his arrest. Last night offices from the Frederick Police Department served the warrant on Mr. Davis at the Frederick County Adult Detention Center where he is currently being held on “NO BOND STATUS” following his arrest for the robbery of the Sunoco Gas station on August 13th and the Rite Aid Pharmacy on August 20th.
