[ARCHIVED] Frederick Police Seek Assistance in Commercial Burglary (2014-067807)

The Frederick Police Department’s Patrol Division is seeking assistance in a commercial burglary investigation…

On 08-30-2014, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the Wal-Mart department store, located at 1811 Monocacy Boulevard, in reference to a commercial burglary.

During the investigation, it was found the burglary occurred around 6:00 AM on Friday, August 29, 2014. During the burglary, a male suspect cut the fence in the area of the lawn and garden section and entered the dwelling. The male suspect then retrieved a grocery cart with items belonging to the Wal-Mart store and exited through the hole in the fence, placing the items into his vehicle.

Photographs and video surveillance of the suspect were obtained, showing the suspect enter the store the night prior during normal business hours. The suspect placed several undisclosed items in a shopping cart and strategically placed it in the lawn and garden section of the store. The shopping cart was left in this area until the suspect arrived the following morning, when the business was closed, and retrieved it.

The suspect is described as below:

- White male
- Approximately 35 to 45 years of age
- Brown hair, several inches long
- Approximately 5’11” in height
- Medium build

Photographs and video surveillance were also obtained of the vehicle the suspect was driving. The vehicle is described as below:

- Dark blue or black
- SUV style
- Possibly a Jeep Grand Cherokee
- Only a rear registration plate
- Driver’s side reverse light not functioning
