Frederick, MD -- The City of Frederick Transportation Engineering advises that Traffic Lines, Inc. will begin work on the East Street Rails with Trails initial phase, and the West Frederick Bicycle Loop on or after Monday, June 16, 2014. Traffic will be maintained on and around the work. Motorists should expect delays.
As part of the City’s effort to further its “bike friendliness”, the City will begin construction of the initial Phase of the East Street Rails with Trails Project as well as the West Frederick Bicycle Loop on June 16, 2014. The initial phase of East Street Rails with Trails includes on street bike lane markings (“sharrows”) from E. All Saints Street/MARC Station up to 7th Street where it intersects the City’s bike pilot program.
The West Frederick Bicycle Loop was identified by the Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. It includes the installation of “sharrows” and bike route signing on the following streets: Motter Avenue, Bentz Street, Center Street, Prospect Boulevard, Braddock Avenue, Norva Avenue, Kline Boulevard, Fairview Avenue, and West 12th Street.
Both projects are funded by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
For additional information about the project, please contact The City of Frederick Engineering Department at 301-600-1498.
The City reminds motorists to buckle up, stay alert for lane closures, and to use courtesy and caution while driving through work zones.
