[ARCHIVED] Frederick Police Department to conduct sobriety checkpoint

Memorial Day weekend typically marks the start of the summer vacation season. As warmer weather approaches, the Frederick Police Department urges driver to take the proper precautions before and while driving on the roadway. The Frederick Police Department will conduct a sobriety checkpoint at an undisclosed location over the holiday weekend to promote awareness and reduce the number of alcohol-impaired drivers on the roads. Drunk driving deaths spike during the holidays. Every 51 minutes, someone in the United States dies in an alcohol-impaired driving crash. The Frederick Police Department urges citizens to be responsible and don’t drink and drive. If you plan to drink, chose a sober designated driver before going out. Throughout this Memorial Day holiday, and the rest of the year, drivers should utilize the above suggestions to stay safe on our roadways. This enforcement is being conducted in partnership with the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration's Highway Safety Office as part of a year-long campaign to keep Frederick area roads safe for residents and travelers.
