The Frederick Police Department conducted DUI patrols in the city over this past weekend.
On March 14-16, 2014 the Frederick Police Department conducted saturation patrols throughout the city to identify drivers operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol. 16 officers participated in this focused enforcement effort. This initiative resulted in the arrest of 5 drivers operating under the influence of alcohol, and 2 additional arrests for drivers with suspended licenses. This enforcement was made possible through grant funding from the State Highway Administration in an effort to make Frederick’s streets safe for the public.
The month of April is Distracted Driving Month in Maryland. The Frederick Police Department will be conducting selective enforcement patrols to detect drivers operating vehicles while not giving full time and attention to driving. We would like to remind motorists that Maryland law requires the use of a hands free device while using a cellular telephone when driving your vehicle.
