[ARCHIVED] FPD and The Governor's Office on Crime Control and Prevention highlight efforts on 3/12/14

The Frederick Police Department and the Governor’s Office on Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) will be hosting the media for a presentation on March 12th at 0900 hours

The Frederick Police Department and the Governor’s Office on Crime Control and Prevention (GOCCP) will be hosting the media for a presentation on March 12th at 0900 hours in the Municipal Office Annex, located at 140 W Patrick St Frederick, Maryland.

The presentation will include the accomplishments of the Safe Streets Grant and other crime prevention initiatives funded by the state of Maryland within Frederick County. The Safe Streets Grant consists of programs such as the Community Prosecutor and Crime Analyst positions within the Frederick County State’s Attorney’s Office and the Frederick Police Department, the Violence Prevention Initiative, and ongoing efforts in the Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) program initiated by the Governor’s Office.

Following a short presentation and overview of the programs offered, attendees will be taking a brief tour of Mullinex Park to highlight ongoing efforts and accomplishments of this extremely important program sponsored by Governor O’Malley’s administration.

In attendance at the presentation will be William Welch, Training Specialist with the Governor’s Office on Crime Control and Prevention, Chuck Sczuroski, member of the National Crime Prevention Council, as well as the following members of Government and Local police departments:

Tom Ledwell, Chief of Police for the Frederick police Department,
Chuck Jenkins, Sheriff of Frederick County,
Bryan Brown, Captain with the Brunswick Police Department

All members of the media are encouraged to attend this event and presentation intended to highlight the ongoing efforts designed to reduce crime in communities across the state of Maryland.
