Frederick Police Department detectives make arrest in stabbing case...
On 12/08/13, at approximately 0139 hours, officers from the Frederick Police Department responded to the 100 block of N. Market St. for a stabbing. Officers noted the victim was bleeding heavily from his abdomen. The victim was taken to Baltimore Shock Trauma and required emergency surgery to treat his injuries. The victim was later released after further treatment.
Detective Gene Alston of the Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigation was assigned as the lead investigator in the case. Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned the stabbing occurred after two groups of males had a confrontation on the sidewalk nearby. With the help of surveillance video and tips from the community, detectives were able to identify the suspect responsible for the stabbing. On 1/31/14, a warrant for the suspect, Ryan Michael Small, was issued from Det. Alston’s charging document.
With the assistance of the Maryland State Police, Small was apprehended in Carroll County, MD this morning. Small is currently being held on $300,000 bond and is charged with the following:
• Assault 1st degree
• Assault 2nd degree
• Reckless endangerment
