The Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division has charged a suspect in the robbery of a taxicab driver…
On 10-25-2013, officers of the Frederick Police Department responded to the Yellow Cab of Frederick in reference to the robbery of one of their taxicab drivers. The Frederick Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division was assigned to investigate the incident.
Through the investigation, it was found the driver of the taxicab picked up two customers in the 400 block of W Seventh Street. When the taxicab arrived at a destination in the 1400 block of Taney Avenue, the male passenger began choking the cab driver, advising the driver to remain quiet or the male would kill him. During the assault, the male suspect also advised the driver to give the suspect all of the driver’s money. After obtaining belongings from the cab driver, the suspect exited the cab and walked away.
Based on information and evidence gathered in this case, the suspect was positively identified as, Kevin Andrew Ashton, Jr.
Criminal charges were applied for, charging Ashton with charges related to robbery, theft and assault. On 12-12-13, Ashton was served with a criminal summons in reference to this case.
